After continuous hikes in petrol prices, the masses have started shifting towards electric vehicles to meet their transportation needs. If we have a look at current Pakistani two wheeler EV market, it has literally started raining EV scooters because in recent past, several EV companies including few international brands or their products have entered in the Pakistani market including some of the giants such as YADEA, AIMA (form New Asia), ZEEHO and TAILG (from Hi Speed).
Now, before telling you about the range test which we conducted on Metro E8S Range Maker. Let us tell you about the product and the company who launched it. Always remember, before making any decision it is very crucial to know which local company or group is launching the product. In this particular case, the local company is Metro which is a well reputed brand all across Pakistan. You must have seen their 70CC Motorcycle, TezRaftar Rikshaw or a Loader running on the roads of our country. Therefore, Metro has now stepped into the EVs with a venture with the world’s largest two wheeler EV producer which is none other than YADEA itself which has presence in 180+ countries around the globe. Metro has a very decent lineup of 8 EV scooters, all from YADEA. After a huge success of their E8S Pro, Metro has come up with a more affordable version of it with more range. Let’s have a look at some important specs of E8S Range Maker before diving into our range test and results.
Moter Power: 1000W (1Kw)
Top Speed: 45-48 KM/H (55 KM/H with booster mode which is available for 20 seconds)
Tire Size: 10” (inch F/R both)
Battery Pack: 72V, 38A (2.74 Kwh), 6 pcs (12V, 38A each and all are connected in series)
Finally, let’s dig into the range test which was conducted by pakevs.com. We Chose Kasur (city) for our range test and started our test from Metro’s Flagship store in Lahore. We had a plan to go to Kasur and then come back on a single charge as we opted to ride the scooter on mode 2 which is the highest power mode available in the scooter with the top speed of 45-48 KM/H on road, depending upon the battery’s voltage level (means what percent the battery is charged). If it is fully charged then it surely touches 48 KM/H top speed. Although, booster mode allows us to take it to 55 KM/H speed just for 20 seconds but we decided not to use it. As per the company claim, E8S Range Maker is capable of achieving up to 155 kilometers in a single charge (on Eco mode which is mode 1 which restricts its speed to 35 KM/H). We started our journey and headed towards Kasur. We rode the scooter for approx. 65 KMs when we reached Kasur. At that time, none of the battery bars was dropped when the scooter was being rode at full throttle in mode 2.
After riding the scooter in Kasur for 5 kilometers, we decided to head back to Lahore. When we reached at the destination where we started from, The scooter was driven 136 KILOMETERS !!! and two solid battery bars were showing up on the meter. This was really surprising for us because company claims 155 KMs in Economy mode and according to the test we conducted on mode 2 (full throttle) we were able to achieve 136 kilometers and still there was plenty of juice available in the battery.
